A daily check-in for someone who lives alone
They tap I'm OK on their phone each morning. If there is no check-in by the time you set, you get one alert on your Android phone, and on normal days nothing buzzes. They need no app and no account.
Get it on Google Play Free to start, no ads. Android 7 and up.
How it works
- Add a daily check-in in anypush and name it after them, like "Mom's check-in".
- Put the link on their phone. Open it together and add it to the home screen, where it shows as an I'm OK icon. Or print the QR card for the fridge, and they scan it each morning.
- Each morning they tap I'm OK. The page says Done, and that you can see they're OK today. Your phone stays quiet; the check-in waits in your inbox.
- No check-in by 11:00, or the time you choose, and you get one alert: "No check-in yet today. Last one: yesterday 08:02."
What they see
One page with large type: "Good morning", a line saying who will know, one big I'm OK button, and what number to call in an emergency. Nothing to fill in and nothing to install. Opening it again the same day shows that they already checked in.
What you need
- An Android phone (Android 7 or later) with anypush, for you.
- Any phone with a browser for them, Android or iPhone, or a printed card and a phone camera.
- Nothing to pay: a check-in uses one of the Free plan's 3 channels.
anypush is not an emergency service. It tells you that a check-in did not happen; it does not detect falls or illness, and alerts are best effort. In an emergency, call 112 or your local emergency number.
Questions
Does the person checking in need an app?
No. They open a link in their phone's browser, or scan a printed card, and tap I'm OK. No app, no account and no password. You can add the link to their home screen, where it shows as an I'm OK icon.
What if they forget to check in?
You get one alert after the time you set: "No check-in yet today", with the time of the last one. What to do next is up to you, for example call them. anypush does nothing else on its own.
Will my phone buzz every morning?
No. A check-in is saved in your inbox without a notification. Your phone only alerts you when the check-in is missing.
Can I change the time?
Yes. The daily alert is set to 11:00 in your phone's time zone, and you can pick any time. If the new time is less than an hour away, the alert starts the next day.
Does the alert come through during quiet hours?
Yes. Quiet hours silence ordinary notifications, but overdue alerts, the daily check-in alert included, still come through.
Is it free?
Yes. A daily check-in uses one channel and one overdue alert, and the Free plan has 3 of each.
Is this a medical alert or an emergency service?
No. It tells you that a check-in did not happen; it cannot tell whether someone is unwell, and alerts are best effort. The check-in page tells them to call 112, or their local emergency number, in an emergency.
Also with anypush: a QR doorbell for any door, and emails that arrive as phone alerts.
